Technically we are Fuzz on the Lens Productions LLC, but we are much more than that. We consider ourselves and everybody we work with to be family.
Fuzz on the Lens was born long before any legal papers were filed or even any decent films were made. This is because we are made up of a group of filmmakers who are friends first and foremost. We have known each other for years and have been
For his entire life, Steven has had a fascination with pictures. This fascination evolved into a more skillful approach to photography and the realization that the ultimate form of a picture is a motion picture. A simple Christmas present of a camcorder kicked off Steven’s career. Making home movies with his cousins and basically just filming anything that was going on progressed into working with the Fuzz on the Lens team. The team has been together since 2004 and Steven contributes in every way possible. He prides himself on being a perfectionist and does not believe in stopping until the job is done and done right. He thinks it is important to do whatever is necessary in order to better a project. This is no better demonstrated by the fact that Steven has both had his nose broken on set and gotten into a car accident prior to shooting a scene and continued with production on both occasions. Steven has a love of all aspects of the filmmaking process, from pre to post-production. This includes the business aspect, which goes hand in hand with his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and MBA with a concentration in Marketing from Saint John’s University.
Our mission is very simple, we want to entertain as many people as possible, in any way we can.
Whether it be feature films, short films, television, music videos, a photograph or anything in between...entertainment is what we live for. We do not believe in being limited to one genre or medium, because we know every audience wants something different and it is our goal to appeal to all of them.
The path that Jason Leavy has taken to get to this point has been very similar to that of his older brother Michael. Jason has been at his brother’s side from the beginning and will be to the end. Nothing to this point would have been possible without Jason’s willingness to help and do whatever is asked of him in order to better the project. Jason plays a large role in rounding out the Fuzz on the Lens team, because whereas Steve and Mike approach filmmaking more from the production standpoint, Jason approaches filmmaking more from an acting standpoint. He brings a different character driven perspective that is necessary to push our creativity and writing to a new level. Like his brother, Jason excels both behind the camera as well as in front of it. He was Michael’s successor at Monsignor Farrell’s television studio, WFBN-TV. He ran the studio and anchored the show each morning. Once he graduated, Jason went on to Kean University where he is currently studying for his Bachelor’s Degree in Communications with a concentration in TV & Film.
To put it simply, Michael Leavy was born a filmmaker. Ever since he learned what a movie was he has dreamed of making them. Fortunately, it didn’t take long for that dream to become a reality. Michael started extremely early, making full-length films with friends and family; and as time passed, ideas got better, stories improved and production value followed. Michael taught himself how to edit and has been perfecting his craft ever since. From the early days of using a toilet paper roll to scroll credits, all the way through mastering Final Cut Pro, that passion has never left him. Michael almost single-handedly ran his high school’s television studio; anchoring the show each morning and creating more skits and short films than anyone else in the studio’s history. More recently, Michael received his Bachelor’s Degree in TV & Film from Saint John’s University and is currently taking graduate classes to further his knowledge of the field he loves.
